NVQ’s Construction Courses

Depending on the institution, different criteria may apply for entry. Most say that you need at least two A-levels or the equivalent, and some say that one of them should be in math or a science subject. You’ll also need good GCSE scores in math and English.

The University of East London’s BSc Construction Management, for example, requires a minimum of 96 UCAS Tariff points to get admitted. For example, you’ll need 104 for the University of Brighton’s BSc Construction Management programmer and 112 for Oxford Brookes University’s BSc Construction Project Management programmer. Other institutions might require more.

Prior to applying, be sure to confirm with your preferred university. It could also be taken into account for older students with a lot of work experience who don’t meet the minimum requirements.

As you learn the skills you need to become a construction manager, you will study things like project management, the built environment, cost management, and relevant construction laws.

All courses approved by the CIOB will cover the fundamentals, while different universities provide different mandatory and core topics. Typically, you’ll have your final year to finish a dissertation or other significant undertaking.

Graduates can get jobs in building control and maintenance, estimating, town planning, NVQ’s 6 construction management, and project management.

Studying for a foundation degree in construction management at the undergraduate level is another choice (DSC). Two years and a third of a BSc are covered in these courses. This can be a good option for you if you don’t satisfy the entry requirements for the full degree or aren’t sure you want to commit to a three-year programmer.

For those already employed in the field, part-time education is sometimes an option for foundation degrees, which tend to be more vocational in nature. A foundation degree can also be topped up to a full degree at a later time.
